BOYE OYEWUMI : Senate by Popular Demand.

Why Boye Oyewumi is the Favorite to Win a Senate Seat in 2023

The run-up to the Ondo Southern Senatorial Election continues to be exciting, particularly with the declaration of various Candidates who have come forward to declare their candidacy for the office.

However, based on the profiles of the various candidates who have expressed their intentions, their pedigree, antecedents, and trajectory, as well as their political wit and support base, Mr. Boye Oyewumi remains the most qualified candidate to win the highly coveted seat in 2023.

Many people familiar with the state’s economic development, as well as political pundits, are familiar with the name Boye Oyewumi. Over the years, the highly reserved and well-respected technocrat has established himself as one of the most valuable assets of the administration led by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN.

For a man who was invited to join the Ondo State Governor’s administration after they ran against each other in the primaries, Oyewumi performed admirably, putting politics aside to focus squarely on the task of attracting investment to the state.

Oyewumi’s numerous graceful strides continue to woo the Senatorial district’s residents, who believe they have found a qualified candidate to represent them and answer their numerous questions.

According to his trajectory and manifesto, he has come out in favor of prioritizing the region’s economic development through a concerted effort to maximize the region’s numerous potentials.

The advantage he has, which has been extremely beneficial to him, is that he is already involved in the region’s development efforts. Through him, the region gained the Ore Industrial Park (OIP), a multi-industry industrial park that has already created over 5000 direct jobs. He was also instrumental in reviving the Okitipupa Oil Palm Plc, a company that was already dormant when he joined, but with his input, the franchise is now generating wealth for the Senatorial district’s residents. Additionally, the Port Ondo project remains a priority for him and is nearing completion.

Apart from his roles as chief executive officer and team leader at ONDIPA, Oyewumi has been overseeing the state’s ministry of trade and commerce since 2017 in the absence of a substantive commissioner. Again, tasking a man with so many responsibilities to also serve as the official commissioner in charge of a critical ministry like trade and commerce demonstrates Governor Akeredolu’s implicit confidence in Oyewumi as a multi-tasker who will always meet, if not exceed, the expectations imposed on him officially, as attestations to this point.

Except for the most ardent critics of the Akeredolu administration who see nothing positive in the administration, it is abundantly clear that the state is on solid ground in terms of investment, courtesy of ONDIPA and its chief driver, Oyewumi, a topnotch professional whose constant focus is on the public good through selfless service.

The residents of the Senatorial district believe that electing him to the Senate will only serve to consolidate his current activities. To many, he is already carrying out the duties of a representative of the people, and electing him to the Red Chamber in 2023 will provide him with the much-needed legislative authority to complement his already-planned plans, many of which are already in the works.

Another reason he continues to be the favorite to represent the people of the Southern Senatorial District is his ability to separate politics from business, which has enabled him to speak directly to the people, convincing them of the importance of voting for a truly qualified candidate.

“It is the crown that seeks the head, not the head that seeks the crown,” he frequently quotes during his campaign. This characterizes Oyewumi as a man who is not seeking personal glorification or gratification, but rather a simple opportunity to serve the people.

His background reveals the profile of a man who is well-educated, having attended the world’s finest institutions of learning.

He is the Managing Director of the Silverage group of companies, which is involved in property development, health and safety solutions, database management, enterprise resource planning, and business intelligence solutions in the United Kingdom, Nigeria, and Ghana.

He is also a member of several professional organizations and a managing trustee of a foundation that provides educational scholarships to orphaned children across several states in Nigeria, ranging from primary to university level.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Middlesex University in London and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maiduguri in Nigeria.

With his stunning profile, he commands a global presence that other candidates lack. Additionally, he approaches the populace with a clean slate. He has never been involved in a scandal during his years in politics. This reveals more about him as a person who always does the right thing.

Through this, he has developed a public image for himself in which the public perceives him as a change agent, and to complement this, he has numerous accomplishments to campaign on despite his lack of political power.

He also remains a favorite for the seat in 2023 as a result of his cordial relationship with Ondo State Executive Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN. The Governor regards him as a true ally and loyalist who has enriched his administration and aided him in establishing a lasting legacy in the state.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) regards him as a devoted member who has never defected from the party and who has always responded to the people’s call whenever he is summoned.

All of these factors, among others, have firmly established Boye Oyewumi as the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate and eventual winner of the Ondo Southern Senatorial District election in 2023. It remains an uphill battle for his challengers to mount a credible campaign against him at the polls.

BEFORE YOU CONDEMN AKETI AND CRUCIFY JACOB ADEBO

Spread with love

There has been allegations across Ondo State and beyond over the recent increment in transport fares from #50 to #100 in the State.

As well, it is no more news that this development has generated various reactions across the  State capital.

But some factors must be quickly put into consideration before we continue to give needless name to various quarters.

First among these is the fact that the Ondo State chapter of NURTW has been fair and  magnanimous in the discharge of their duty so far in the State in the area of service delivery.

It may interest you to know that for over a decade, taxi fare in Ondo State has relatively remained #50 even at a time fuel price increased astronomically from #96 to #145. They have always considered the good people of the State at their own expense.

Before you continue to criticise them, you must know too that there has recently been over 150% increment in the prices of car parts. For instance, tire that used to be #10,000 now costs #22,000.

A Nisan Almera which was #450k is now #1.3M and many more.  Drivers are business people too and what they buy(fuel in particular) is what they sell which must come with gain like other business people and not always at a lost. A drivers too deserves a life.

Please note as well that in the entire Southwest Nigeria, Akure used to be the State with the cleanest taxi but that now belonged to the past as the #50 transport fare cannot bear maintenance cost not to talk of feeding the drivers.

Let me therefore, implore the good citizen of Ondo State to endure this critical period as things may change in very soon.

TheCable gathered that Odekunle, also a professor, died at the COVID-19 isolation center in Gwagalada, Abuja, on Tuesday evening.

At the briefing of the presidential task force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, had said: “A good friend of this government just passed on at 6:30pm”.

It is unclear if Mustapha was referring to Odekunle or another person but he said discussions were ongoing to help the deceased hours before news of his death broke.

Nigeria is currently experiencing the second wave of the pandemic.

Mustapha had earlier said within one week since Nigeria entered the second wave of infections, 16 out of every 100 tests returned positive.

Within the past two weeks, the daily count of COVID-19 cases recorded a significant rise — increasing to more than 1,000 cases within a 24-hour period.

In  July, Odekunle made the headlines when he kicked against the arrest of Ibrahim Magu, former acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He had described Magu’s ordeal as a power play by blocs in the corridor of power.

Odekunle had alleged that Abubakar Malami, minister of justice, is the arrowhead of the bloc that is not really interested in President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption fight.

A graduate of the University of Ibadan, 1968, he got his PhD in sociology and social psychiatry fromthe University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, in the United States, in 1974.

OBASANJO MAKES SHOCKING REVELATION

FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he would have been killed during Lt.-Col. Buka Suka Dimka coup in 1976 if not for the help of Gen. Olu Bajowa (retd.).

Obasanjo, who described Bajowa as a man with conscious Yoruba culture, spoke on Sunday at Igbotako in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State during Bajowa’s 80th birthday celebration.

Bajowa became a General when he was 38 years old and retired from the Nigeria Army at 40.

Gov. Akeredolu and Ooni  Ogunwusi

Obasanjo, who was chairman of the occasion, recalled that if Bajowa had not invited him to his son’s naming ceremony, he would have been nailed by the coup plotters because the person that was shot with the late Head of State, Gen. Murtala Mohammed, was mistaken for him.

He said: “I want to say something about Olu, either he knew it or he didn’t know it. When Dimka coup came, if Olu had not been what he was and what he is, I would have gone with the coup.

“Let me tell you the story. Olu is very respectful. He is very conscious of our culture. He had a child, a boy, and wanted to name the child after me. He had to call me early in the morning that Dimka struck.

“And because Olu said he was coming, I had to wait a little bit. I waited beyond the time I would have gone out.

“Olu then came, he made the request and I granted the request.

  The Bajowa's and Gov. Akeredolu

“So, I was a little bit late in going on the route that I normally took to work. And Reinumuje went ahead of me and they thought it was me and they shot his car. They shot his car; Murtala was shot.

“Indirectly, that is how Olu Bajowa saved my life. Bajowa is an honest man, a thorough man and he is a well brought up man.”

Obasanjo said Bajowa performed creditably during his military career by displaying gallantry during Nigeria Civil War while leading 11 Battalion.

Bishop of the Anglican Diocese, Igbotako, Reverend Olaoluwa Oluseyi Pirisola, urged Bajowa to make the rest of life the best.

He enjoined him to support the gospel of Jesus Christ as well as serve him more diligently for the rest of his life.

The event was attended by many dignitaries from different parts of the nation.

They include Admiral Akin Aduwo (retd.); the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo; the Abodi of Ikale land, George Babatunde Faduyile, and several royal fathers from Southwest.

The New Patriots movie explores the disenchantment of youths with the mismanagement, bad governance and endemic corruption in Aruguna (fictional Republic), a populous third world nation, after a covert team of vibrant youths led by Lateef Adedimeji deploy unorthodox means to tackle the mindless, corrupt and deadly powerbrokers in their country.
