Without sounding defensive of Bola Tinubu, as
much as I don't buy into some of his tactics, I
want to say if he had not supported President
Buhari during the APC primaries, Atiku or
Kwakanso would have defeated him because of
their financial wealth and wealth of political
experience.
Truth is, those people(Atiku and Kwankanso)
would always look for ways to take their own
pound of flesh from Tinubu.
The two are heavyweights in their own right.
Tinubu is a politician of no mean repute.
What happened in the senate some days back is
about 2019. Those who know will readily tell you
these young turks are bent on blackmailing
President Buhari out of power so that they can
come in.
But will Nigerians vote them? Truth be told,
majority of those who won the last elections on
the platform of APC did so because of the name
of Buhari. Take it or leave it.
Can Bukola Saraki gain the same support from
the masses of this country? Or Atiku Abubakar
who always depends on marabouts to tell him
what to do?
Kwankanso is an excellent administrator but he
has to rein in the demon of his ambition lest he
falls by the road side. He can rule this country
some day but he has to realise he needs more
than his tribesmen to become the president.
Becoming the Senate President in an ethically
fraudulent manner but legally debatable way is
quite different from becoming the president of this
country in a general election. I hope Dr Saraki will
learn this soon.
Are we witnessing a new Atiku soon? I doubt.
What magic has he up his sleeves to persuade
Nigerians to consider him for the post of the
president?
Ambition is good, but it has to be pursued within
the lower limit of decency and upper limit of
integrity. What Saraki and co did some days back
will count against him some day, that's if he aims
higher beyond what he is now.
The integrity of President Buhari worked for him in
the last election. Can the same be said of Atiku
or Saraki?
What about alliance? The game is even yet to
take off. So many things will give way as the journey unfolds.
